No Child Should Have to Feel “Hangry”
Have you ever felt “hangry”? That frustrating mix of hunger and anger that sneaks up on you when your stomach is empty?
Now imagine you’re a child—someone with a smaller stomach who may not realize how hungry they are until it’s too late. The irritability, the tears, the tantrums—it’s not just a bad mood; it’s their body crying out for food.
Here some of the negative impacts of hunger on our youth!
• Reduced energy and focus
Children who are hungry may have less energy and be less able to focus. This can impact their social interactions and behavior, making it harder to form friendships and maintain self-control.
• Increased risk of health problems
Children who don't get enough food may be at higher risk of health conditions like anemia and asthma.
Close to 100 children in our community walk through our Club doors afterschool and many are experiencing this kind of hunger every day. It is a long time between their lunch break and getting off the bus at the Club. Hunger doesn’t just affect their mood—it impacts their ability to learn, grow, and thrive.
At the Boys & Girls Club of Sparta, we’re working hard to ensure no child goes hungry while in our care. This Giving Tuesday, your support makes it possible for us to provide snacks to all children, tweens & teens during our after-school programs.
With your help, we can change their story.
• $25 provides a free snack for 10 Club members for a week.
• $50 ensures snacks free snacks & light meals during a Healthy Habits after-school program.
• $100 helps provide a free snack for 10 Club members for a month.
Donate now to help children in our community grow strong, healthy, and happy.
Together, we can turn hangry moments into hopeful ones.
Thank you for standing with us.
Warm regards,
The Boys & Girls Club of Sparta
