Summer Education Program

The Summer Education Program infuses fun, engaging activities along with educational content to help ensure our Club members experience academic success! Our Summer Education Program will begin on Monday, June 19th. Classes are broken up into academic topics and age categories. Minimal fees are required to cover the cost of added expenses and materials.  
To register your child for classes, please fill out the summer education registration form attached. This registration form can be dropped off, emailed or faxed to the Club. Payment for classes is expected prior to the start of each session. 

Boys & Girls Club of Sparta Summer Education Program 2017 
Weeks 2-6 June 19th –July 21st  
We All Scream for Ice Cream 
 Mondays & Tuesdays 1:30-3:00 pm 
 Grades 3rd grade and up 
 Cost: $25.00 
Summer is the perfect time to learn how to engineer different processes for making ice cream. Participants will learn the history of ice cream, distinguish the difference between frozen yogurts, sherbet, and sorbet and of course ice cream. Kids will have fun mixing flavors and creating unique names for their frozen concoctions.   
Petite Eats - Beginnings and Endings
Thursdays & Fridays 1:30-3:00 pm 
 Grades 4th grade and up
 Cost: $25.00 
Participants will learn the basics of appetizers, hors d'oeuvres, and desserts. Table setting, food presentation and entertaining will be explored as well as food safety. Chefs will be creating their own cookbooks containing the recipes they prepare and taste. 

Diary of a Minecraft Zombie Reading Club
Mondays & Tuesdays 1:30-3:00 pm 
4th grade and up
Cost: $30.00 (includes a copy of the book)
 In the first book of this hilarious Minecraft adventure series, you get to read the diary of an actual 12 year old Minecraft Zombie. Enjoy reading while you take a peek at what is really going on between the hollow eyes and the dead expression that we normally see when we face the dreaded Zombies of Minecraft. You will also get the opportunity to play Mindecraft on our tablets. Join the adventure today! 
Clay Creations and Pottery 
Thursdays & Fridays 1:30-3:00pm 
5th Grade and up 
Cost: $30.00 
Join us this summer as we learn how to mold and create art with our hands and other tools. We will learn about the different types of clay and how you can mold them into our own masterpiece. We will learn how to treat our creations after they are done. One of the last days of class we will take a field trip to All Glazed Up in La Crosse, WI.   
Club SPA / Go Girls Go 
Mondays & Tuesdays 3:30-415 
Grades 3rd & up
Cost: $15.00 
Pamper, de-stress and learn about taking care of mind, body and soul by trying different relaxation and meditation techniques. Food, fashion, and fitness are discussed so preteens and teens learn to care for their bodies inside and out. Create scented masks, facials, foot soaks, exfoliates and aromatherapies. Practice hair, nails, and skin care using natural techniques which include nutrition, exercise, massage, manicures, and more. 
Model Kit Club
Thursdays & Fridays 3:30-4:15 
Grades 3rd & Up 
 Cost: $30.00 
We will work together as well as individually on putting together our own model kit of a car, rocket, etc. Have fun learning e learning the history and look of your model; construction of the model; painting; and in some cases, weathering or applying decals. The fees from the class will cover all the materials you will need to build your kit for you to take home.

Become a great artist! Whether you like to draw or write you are considered an artist. You will learn about famous artists and authors along with a kid-friendly activity to go along with the style and technique each artist or author uses.  
Tastes Around The World 
Thursdays & Fridays 1:30-3:00 
Grades: 3rd & up 
 Costs: $25.00 
Eat your way around the World! In this class you will learn about different cultures and the food that they eat. We will discuss all the different ways to grow, purchase and make food and how it is different than what we do. This is a great way to try new things and give your taste buds a great variety.  
Body Systems / Grossology 
Mondays & Tuesdays 3:30-4:15 
Grades 4th & Up 
 Cost: $12.00 
Most of the time you don't find your own smells and scabs and oozes too disgusting. It is usually the same stuff on someone else's body that's really gross. But the reasons for the ickiness are identical whether it's you, your uncle, or the kid down the street. So as a beginning grossologist, you will find out a lot of sickening things about everyone.

Love taking pictures and selfies and don’t know what to do with them? This is the perfect class for you! You can make your very own scrapbook and learn fun and unique techniques on how to organize all your memories. When you are done, you will have your own scrapbook to keep and share with your family and friends.
