Our Mission Statement

In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them! In order to achieve this goal, the Boys & Girls Club of Sparta has the following Mission, Purpose, and Youth Development Strategy:

Mission
To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.

Purpose
The purpose of Boys & Girls Clubs is to promote the social, educational, health, leadership and character development of boys and girls during critical periods of their growth. Clubs provide:
  • A safe place to learn and grow
  • Ongoing relationships with caring adult professionals
  • Life-enhancing programs
  • Character development experiences
  • Hope and oportunity
  • CPR and First Aid certified staff
  • Staff that is trained and knowledgeable of child abuse issues
  • 1:15 staff to Club member ratio (1 staff for every 15 members)

Youth Development Strategy
Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling:
  • A sense of competence - The feeling there is something boys and girls can do and do well
  • A sense of usefulness - The opportunity to do something of value for other people
  • A sense of belonging - A setting where young people know they fit in and are accepted
  • A sense of power or influence - A chance for members to be heard and to influence decisions
